Dupion is a crisp sort of silk fabric woven very simply. It is produced by a fine thread in the warp and uneven thread reeled from two or more entangled cocoons in the weft.
Dupion is similar to Shantung (Silk fabric slightly thinner and less irregular from China used for Bridal Gowns). But Dupion is slightly thicker, heavier and with a greater slub ( crosswise irregularity) count compared to Shantung.
